Libraries would normally have problems of wet, worn out, damaged books while checked out by the patrons. Can we simply blame them or not let them borrow again? What we can do is teach them how to care not only for books but for their belongings.
Before, I provide them plastic bags to put their library books, but as the need arises to be cautious of our environment, I bought a few pieces of recyclable bags for primary students to start up. Since our primary children would have a library book every week, we just made a small tag to hang on the handle for easy identification. We give it to the students for free as long as they want it. To have them learned how to care for their things and to get the books in good conditions are more valuable than the money we used to buy these bags.
